Blood vessels can be treated with specialized surgery, but lasers have shown to deliver clinically proven results in comparison. During laser treatment, the light is directed at the vein or friable capillaries.
Using precision control and expertise, your technician will use laser technology to destroy or reduce the appearance of the vein without damaging your skin. Both IPL or Intense Pulsed Light therapy or YAG laser technology is the most commonly used. We can now even treat successfully the larger vein underneath the eyes in the lower eyelids with our new YAG laser. Procedures are minimally painful, but most patients compare the feeling to a soft poke. Dr. Bengtson or Dr. Alfonso can walk you through the different laser treatments we offer and how they can address visible veins. It’s most common to see veins appear on the arms and legs. However, patients can have this procedure performed on any part of their body, including the face.
Blood vessels make up all the circulatory system components that work to transport blood throughout the human body. These vessels fall into five types: the arteries, the arterioles, the capillaries, the venules, and the veins. While we all have these within the body, small veins and capillaries may become unsightly or appear more visibly as we age, particularly in the face.
What Causes Blood Vessels to Become Visible?
Since we all have blood vessels throughout our entire body, these issues can occur to just about anyone. However, patients who experience ailments like weak or damaged vein and arterial walls are more likely to develop visible varicose veins and similar concerns, particularly those with thin skin and dermis.
This isn’t the only cause. Conditions such as Rosacea are extremely common that have large numbers of very fragile capillaries particularly in the nose, cheeks, chin, and neck.
