If you're considering breast augmentation in Michigan, you might first be concerned with the safety or cost of your procedure. Once you resolve those concerns, if you're like most patients of Plastic Surgeon Dr. Brad Bengtson, you will spend a lot of time thinking about results. At the Bengtson Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery, many breast augmentation patients say, "I don't want to be too big, but I want to make it worth my while."

But how can you know beforehand exactly what size is right for you? Viewing before and after photos or stuffing implants into your bra simply cannot compare to the realistic images you will see of your potential post-surgery results with our Grand Rapids VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation System at our practice.

The newly updated VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation System is the most sophisticated education and planning tool available for helping you understand your surgery as well as see the range of results you can achieve with breast enhancement. The VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation System, offered by Dr. Bengtson, better illustrates your individualized potential outcome.

What Does VECTRA 3D Imaging Do?

Although no single method or simulation is 100% accurate, the VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation Breast Imaging System gives our Grand Rapids patients an amazing 3D visual image range of outcomes proportional to your breast and body, while providing a realistic expectation of your breast appearance. With VECTRA 3D Breast Imaging, you can now visualize your “afters” before breast surgery!

Dr. Bengtson and his colleague Dr. Caroline Glicksman have developed a new standardization of bra cup sizing, which they are incorporating into the VECTRA 3D system. That means that you can now speak the same "bra cup language" as your plastic surgeon! VECTRA can also be very useful for visualizing mastopexy breast lift results and for navigating facial plastic surgery, particularly rhinoplasty. Canfield Scientific, the company that develops and manufactures VECTRA 3D, will soon have applications for facial volumizing and body contouring.

What is 3D Breast Imaging and Simulation?

Using VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation during a consultation at our practice allows for a detailed surgical education and planning by providing you with visual answers to your questions and setting reasonable expectations about your potential range of results.

The VECTRA 3D Imaging session begins by capturing a 270-degree image of the area you want to discuss and enhance. The VECTRA system will then record precise measurements and details of your individual anatomy and develop an accurate virtual image. Simple graphical tools clearly model potential surgical results.

Imaging uses a 3D photo of your breast and body, enabling Dr. Bengtson or Dr. Alfonso to simulate different implant sizes and shapes to help you visualize how you may look should you elect a breast augmentation procedure. It also allows you to view, side by side, your before and after photos for easy comparison in many views and positions.

Why Might I Choose 3D Breast Imaging and Simulation?

See your afters ... before! Bengtson is the first and only plastic surgery practice in West Michigan to offer this amazing 3D Imaging and Simulation system.

The unit takes a 3-dimensional photograph that can then be visualized and used to simulate your actual range of results following surgery - before your procedure. The powerful before and after images allow you and Dr. Bengtson or Dr. Alfonso to make important decisions regarding your treatment plan without basing your decision on someone else’s breast or body images.

Will the Results of 3D Breast Imaging and Simulation Be the Same as My Surgical Outcomes?

VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation System gives our patients a range and an approximation of what they may look like after surgery, but it is not absolute.

Your results take into account not only the breast implant size and shape that will be placed, but also your own natural tissues, the density and firmness of this tissue, sagginess of the breast, and other anatomical features that simulation cannot duplicate entirely. However, we are finding the VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation results very accurate and a great visual aid for patients.

Is There an Added Cost for 3D Breast Imaging and Simulation?

Currently, we do not charge additionally for VECTRA. We believe this technology is an important part of your education.

Is VECTRA 3D Imaging and Simulation Really That Good?

Breast surgery is highly individualized, and it is often difficult to explain or express your specific goals. Looking at other patients’ results is inaccurate because the main contribution to your outcome is your own unique breast shape and volume.

Bra stuffing does not give an accurate appraisal and will overestimate your result. In order to better illustrate potential outcomes that may be achieved, we offer highly advanced VECTRA 3D breast imaging and simulation. Although there is no method or simulation that will allow you to experience exactly what your breasts will look like post-operatively, VECTRA 3D Breast Imaging gives you a highly accurate visual image for the range of outcomes that may be achieved for your body.

VECTRA provides a realistic 3-dimensional view of your breasts, helping visually with the implant selection process. The system also works well for helping patients view potential results from their mastopexy breast lifting and fat grafting procedures.
