We are proud to announce we are the first practice in Michigan to offer QWO

The first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for the reduction of moderate to severe cellulite.

See Ya, Cellulite!

Bring your bottom to the top of your to-do list with QWO!

Treating cellulite remains one of the most difficult conditions to treat because cellulite is not just fat. Studies show that 9 out of 10 women have a degree of cellulite in their abdomen, thighs, and buttocks in their lifetimes. Cellulite is typically tied to a specific type of fat our bodies do not process, which makes diet and exercise ineffective in treating it.

Dr. Brad Bengtson and Dr. David Alfonso of the Bengtson Center understand how frustrating this can be, which is why they are the first practice to offer QWO in Michigan to their patients.

What is QWO?

To understand QWO, it is important to understand what cellulite is and what causes it. Cellulite occurs when certain fibers within the dermal layer of skin tighten up over time. This tension causes the fibers (known as “fibrous septae”) to shrink, resulting in “pulling” at the outer layer of our skin. This is why it looks like our skin has little dimples and dents.

The tension these fibrous septae undergo can often be caused by diet, age, or even hormones – but because they’re not built from fat, it can be incredibly difficult to release the tension, which is what makes cellulite such a pain to get rid of.

QWO is a treatment that specifically focuses on those fibrous septae. QWO injections contain special enzymes (called collagenases) which work to redistribute the fat cells within the dermal layer of skin, stimulating the growth of new collagen and helping to ease the tension that causes the dimpling. By relaxing this tension, QWO eliminates the “pulling” effect, allowing our skin to return to its naturally smooth state.

QWO Grand Rapids

Dr. Bengtson and Dr. Alfonso are excited to be the first in Michigan to offer QWO to their patients. QWO is an injectable cellulite treatment that targets moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks, making visible improvements in just a few short months.

Benefits of QWO

The best part about QWO is that it’s simply an injection treatment. This means the entire procedure can be performed quite quickly (often in as few as 10 minutes!), allowing you to come in during a break from work, in between classes or before you pick up the kids from school, and lets you get back to your regular schedule immediately after, with no post-treatment downtime!

QWO is simple, fast-acting, and long-lasting. In just 10 weeks, you will begin to see a noticeable reduction in cellulite. While longitudinal studies are ongoing, at this point, it appears that the changes do not fade over time. This makes QWO an incredible value as well, as you will only have to undergo up to three rounds of initial treatments to see your cellulite disappear.

Am I a Candidate?

Cellulite can impact our self-confidence, even though most people will experience some level of it. Both men and women can have cellulite present because it isn’t directly tied to weight, sex, or diet. So keep in mind that you’re not alone when you see those little dimples on your skin, and there is now a perfect solution to this bumpy issue for everyone!

The QWO procedure is simple, fast-acting, non-surgical, and requires practically no downtime! If you have particular questions or concerns, feel free to come in for a visit in person or virtually. Dr. Bengtson, Dr. Alfonso, and staff are more than happy to assist you and fill you in with what to expect during the treatment and aftercare.

What to Expect During the Procedure?

QWO is a simple injection that is easy to administer. Once you come in for your procedure, the target areas will be marked and then injected.

Numbing creams and anesthesia are not necessary, as the process is considered quite painless. Once the injections are performed, you can leave the office and simply continue about your day as there is no downtime necessary.

What Does the Recovery Process Look Like?

As is the case with most injectable treatments, there is a small risk of slight swelling and bruising at the injection site. This bruising typically lasts up to one or two weeks, so we recommend that our Grand Rapids QWO patients postpone any bikini-based outings until they’re fully healed.

Aside from recovering from the swelling, there is no post-treatment care necessary beyond coming back for a scheduled checkup!

What Type of Results Can I Expect?

The QWO injectable procedure consists of a single visit every three weeks, for a total up to three visits. Results are often noticeable following the first treatment, but the best outcomes will be visible once the full treatment 10-week treatment cycle has been completed.
