Chemical Peels for Grand Rapids and Birmingham: What Are the Options?
Below are some of the advanced customizable chemical peel options we offer.
ZO® 3-Step Peel™
What you may be asking is: What is the ZO 3-Step Peel? Created by world-renowned Dr. Zein Obagi, the three-step peel from ZO Skin Health is an innovative treatment that helps reduce visible signs of acne, sun damage, fine lines, enlarged pores, melasma, and other hyperpigmentation, rough or uneven texture, and dullness. The ZO® 3-Step Peel™ contains a patented combination of retinol, exfoliants, and multi-action agents that visibly benefit skin health and target the early signs of aging. While improving the skin's regeneration abilities, it also provides antioxidant protection and is an anti-irritant.
ZO® 3-Step Peel™ benefits and recovery:
- promotes softer, smoother, firmer skin
- can be repeated every three to four weeks to improve skin's elasticity, texture, and tone
- effectively renews the skin and stimulates rejuvenation
- peeling is mild and, depending on your skin type, can take between four and five days
- sun protection after the peel is important for long-lasting results
- avoid retinol products for seven days after your peel
The VI Peel™
What is a VI Peel™? This chemical peel is designed to reverse the signs of aging and sun damage on the skin, including the face, neck, hands, and chest. It contains a synergistic blend of gentle yet powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. The actual application only takes minutes, but provides long-lasting benefits by improving the tone, texture, and clarity of the skin; reducing or eliminating age spots, freckles, and hyper-pigmentation, including melasma; softening lines and wrinkles; clearing acne; reducing or eliminating acne scars; and stimulating the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin. VI Peel™ also works well in conjunction with laser treatments and injectable dermal fillers, and it can improve the skin's appearance following a surgical facial procedure. This chemical peel provides dramatic results for our Grand Rapids patients with virtually no pain, no skin preparation, and little downtime. Enjoy radiant, younger-looking skin in about a week!
VI Peel™ benefits and recovery:
- reverses sun damage and signs of aging
- stimulates collagen and elastin production
- dramatically improves skin tone and texture
- six sessions, followed by four applications a year are recommended for maintenance of luminous, glowing skin
- effective for all skin types
- results in a "fluffy" peeling effect that changes to light flaking within days
- no post-peel activity restrictions
Should Chemical Peels Be Spaced Far Apart?
Chemical peels, for most of our Grand Rapids patients, should be scheduled three to four times a year to repair sun damage that is already present, and to avoid permanent scarring for those affected by acne.
The skincare experts at TransforMD Laser & Skin Center can help you determine the frequency of the chemical peel, which depends on various factors. For some Grand Rapids patients with extremely damaged skin, a chemical peel, such as the VI Peel™, can initially be done once a month to obtain quicker desired results.
How Many Chemical Peels Are Required for Improvement?
A single chemical peel can achieve significant repair and add a healthy glow to the skin. It offers truly restorative, painless repair of damaged skin, including sun damage and acne. Best of all, it effectively prevents premature signs of aging for younger skin with no visible damage.
WHERE SMART & BEAUTY MEET
Do Chemical Peels Burn?
Most chemical peels do not really burn. Some of our Birmingham and Grand Rapids patients have reported feeling a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds, which completely and almost immediately subsides. The peel is applied topically, and numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?
If you want fewer visible lines, smoother and clearer skin, a more even tone, and other benefits, a chemical peel may be right for you. Men and women who make the best candidates for chemical peels are in good general health and want to address superficial imperfections. You can discuss details, and determine which peel is best for you, at a private and personalized consultation.
