Here at the Bengtson Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, BOTOX Cosmetic is a big deal. We're certified as one of the top three providers in the state, and we've got an amazing team made up of Master Injectors and National Trainers who have worked to train other physicians and injectors around the country. Given how much we (and our patients) love the wrinkle-reducer, we're beyond excited by the most recent news to come from BOTOX maker Allergan:
On Oct. 3, the manufacturer announced that the injectable has achieved FDA approval for its third official cosmetic application: moderate to severe forehead lines.
BOTOX Cosmetic is already known for its work on the upper third of the face, as it's long been used to temporarily smooth out glabellar lines, which are those little folds that can form when you scrunch your eyebrows together toward the middle. It's also had FDA approval for lateral canthal lines - better known as crow's feet. Actually, they're better known as laugh lines, because who wants how they look when they smile or squint to be associated with bird toes?
While doctors often safely use BOTOX Cosmetic for other areas and cosmetic needs (known as off-label uses), an FDA approval gives more weight to the application and allows marketing efforts to include that specific use.
The technical side of the new approval involves what's known as the frontalis muscle, making the cosmetic the first (and only) injectable of its kind in the world indicated for three different treatment areas on the face! Whether you want temporary relief from wrinkles between your eyebrows, crinkles to the side of either eye, long lines across your forehead - or any combination of the three - you have a trusted solution.
